We are currently seeking a Bilingual Paralegal within our company’s legal department. This position is a full-time position. Candidates will have a strong work ethic, excellent time management skills, and a professional, positive interest in their work.
Responsibilities:
- Handling a high quantity of files independently while under the supervision of a Senior Paralegal and the Legal Director
- Prepare pleadings and drafting of various Small Claims Court documents
- Coordinate filing and service of documents
- Keep track of files and manage deadlines
- Conduct and complete legal research as required
- Liaise with other members of the legal department
- Court preparation
- Skip Tracing
- Prepare and attend various court appearances
Requirements:
- Ability to communicate in both French and English
- Knowledge of The Rules of the Small Claims Court and Small Claims Debt Collections
- Excellent computer skills and the ability to adapt to company systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both French and English
- Able to multi-task and manage his or her time efficiently
- Very strong organizational skills
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Draft and send correspondence
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Provide proactive file management
- Ability to work well under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines
- Always present a positive and professional image of the company
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle for court appearances
- Accreditation in good standings
Education:
- Paralegal Diploma or Certificate
- Licensed with the Law Society of Ontario
- Related experience is an asset
This is a full-time role (Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm) at the Pickering Head Office (1315 Pickering Parkway, Pickering, ON). Remote work is unavailable at this time.
